Practical Course on Professional Etiquette for Tourism Professionals at Unhas Hotel

Makassar, January 9, 2026 – First-semester students in the Tourism Destination Studies Program at the Vocational Faculty of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) recently held a field practicum titled “Personal Etiquette for Tourism Professionals.” The event took place at one of Unhas’s hotels and aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills regarding etiquette required in the tourism industry.
The activity was attended by 36 students divided into several groups. They had the opportunity to learn firsthand how to interact with guests, understand excellent service, and recognize the importance of a professional attitude in the tourism industry. During the practical session, the students were trained by experienced hotel staff, who provided in-depth insights into service etiquette.
“Through this workshop, we want students to understand that good etiquette has a significant impact on guest satisfaction and the hotel’s image,” said the instructor, Mr. Yovie. He added that these skills are not only important for careers in the hospitality industry but also in the tourism sector in general. At the end of the activity, students received certificates as proof of their participation in the personal etiquette workshop. It is hoped that this experience will serve as a valuable asset for them as they enter an increasingly competitive job market. Through this activity, it is hoped that students will be able to apply proper etiquette in tourism services and promote the culture of courtesy that is a hallmark of the Indonesian people in the eyes of the world.
