Defeating 200 Teams, Unhas Vocational Students in the Animal Production Technology Study Program Won Gold at OLIVIA X 2025 Universitas Brawijaya

Malang, July 31, 2025* — Students from the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Hasanuddin University have once again achieved national success. At the 10th Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) 2025, held at Brawijaya University, Malang, the Unhas team won first place nationally in the Science and Technology category, outperforming more than 200 participating teams from all vocational universities in Indonesia.
The competition lasted two days, July 30–31, 2025, with the final judging and award ceremony taking place on Thursday (July 31). Of the hundreds of scientific papers submitted, only seven teams were selected as national finalists, namely:
• Hasanuddin University
• IPB University
• Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS)
• Padang State University
• Gadjah Mada University
• Tidar University
• Brawijaya University
In this competition, the Unhas team from the Animal Production Technology Study Program submitted a scientific paper entitled:
*"Innovation of Pandan-Flavored Salted Duck Eggs Using the Oven Method: Hedonic Approach and Hedonic Quality."*
The resulting product is named GOTIK (Egg Oven Salt iTIK), which develops the simple process of salting salted eggs into a more innovative one. Attractive and high-value. Innovation is achieved through an oven-roasting technique and the addition of pandan leaf extract, resulting in salted eggs with a softer texture, distinctive pandan aroma, and a longer shelf life.
Not only is this product technically superior, it also has a social and economic impact. Designed with an applicable, measurable, and easily replicable approach, GOTIK is an ideal solution for local MSMEs in the food sector, particularly salted egg processors. By leveraging local potential and simple technology, this product supports food diversification and directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 2: Zero Hunger.

The Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Prof. Dr. Ir. Restu, M.P., expressed his pride in the achievement:
“This achievement is not only a source of pride for Hasanuddin University, but also clear evidence that vocational students are capable of pioneering innovations that provide solutions and have a direct impact on society. Innovations like GOTIK demonstrate the importance of applied research in promoting local food security.”
With this achievement, Hasanuddin University has once again demonstrated the capacity and quality of its students at the national level, particularly in the fields of applied research and vocational innovation.
