Actuarial Science Study Program Visit to the Indonesian Actuarial Association (PAI) Jakarta
On February 1, 2024, the Actuarial Science Study Program at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) visited the Indonesian Actuarial Association (PAI) in Jakarta. The purpose of this visit was to establish closer cooperation between academics and practitioners in the field of actuarial science, as well as to further introduce the development of the actuarial profession in Indonesia.
The delegation from the Unhas Actuarial Science Program, consisting of faculty members and academic staff representatives, was warmly received by the PAI board. During the visit, PAI representatives presented various initiatives currently being implemented to develop the actuarial profession in Indonesia, including actuarial certification training, PAI's role in establishing professional standards for actuaries, and the challenges faced by actuaries in the country.
The discussion session also covered various important topics such as the development of an actuarial education curriculum that is relevant to industry needs, internship and job placement opportunities for actuarial students, and the role of PAI in promoting the improvement of the quality and competence of Indonesian actuaries. In addition, this activity provided an opportunity for the Unhas Actuarial Science Study Program to discuss various opportunities for collaboration with PAI in the field of actuarial research and professional development.
