The Master of Statistics Study Program at Hasanuddin University was established on July 24, 2019, based on the Decree of the Rector of Hasanuddin University Number 3874/UN4.1/KEP/2019. This study program was created to meet the demand for advanced-level statistical experts and to strengthen higher education in the field of statistics at the postgraduate level.
The Master of Statistics Study Program is managed under the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University. The Department of Statistics was established in 2019 as part of institutional strengthening for statistical education, which was previously managed under the Department of Mathematics. At its inception, the Department of Statistics only offered one study program, namely the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program, which later became the foundation for the development of the Master of Statistics Study Program. Based on this experience, the master’s program focuses on deepening scientific knowledge, strengthening methodology, and applying statistics at an advanced level in accordance with research needs and the development of the data-driven workforce.
The Master of Statistics Study Program submitted its first accreditation to the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) in 2021 as part of its quality assurance commitment. The BAN-PT assessment granted the program an accreditation rank of Very Good with a score of 305 through Decree Number 13099/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/XII/2021, valid from 2021 to 2026. Furthermore, based on LAMSAMA Decree Number 069/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/M/III/2026, it was decided that the Master of Statistics Program at Hasanuddin University met the requirements for the EXCELLENT rank, valid for five (5) years, from March 10, 2026 to March 9, 2031. This achievement serves as the foundation for the Master of Statistics Study Program to continuously improve the quality of education, research, and community service at the postgraduate level.
To date, the Master of Statistics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University continues to develop through curriculum enhancement, scientific publications by lecturers and students, national and international collaborations, and tangible contributions in providing data-based solutions to development challenges, particularly in Eastern Indonesia.
