MAKASSAR — The Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Hasanuddin University successfully organised the Campus Life Orientation Programme for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2026 Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Archaeology on Thursday, 13 August 2026. Held in Room 213 on the 2nd floor of the FIS V Building, FIB, Hasanuddin University, the event was enthusiastically attended by 82 new students wearing the university’s iconic academic robes.

The event, which was expertly organised by a committee of student volunteers, was attended in person by the entire academic staff and support staff of the Department of Archaeology. The synergy between the academic community and the volunteer organising committee created a warm, orderly and educational atmosphere for the participants.

The programme began at 07:45 WITA with registration, ice-breaking activities and the completion of the online course registration form. The event was then officially opened, followed by a welcome address from the Head of the Department of Archaeology, Dr Yadi Mulyadi, M.A., along with an introduction to the lecturers and support staff within the department, as well as a presentation on the vision, mission, objectives and graduate profile of the Archaeology Undergraduate Programme.

 As the lecture session began, the new students received a comprehensive academic orientation. Prof. Dr Akin Duli, M.A., delivered the keynote presentation on ‘The Achievements of the Unhas Archaeology Programme in the Field of Research’. Subsequently, participants were given an overview of academic life, the curriculum system and student organisations. 

The lecture session concluded with an inspiring presentation by Drs. Iwan Sumantri, M.A., M.Si., on the theme “From the Lecture Hall to the World of Work”. To foster camaraderie and familiarise students with the campus environment, the organising committee held a Campus Treasure Hunt just before lunch.

In the afternoon session, the new students were challenged to take part in a Mini Project to develop creative ideas and solutions to campus issues, which were then presented in groups to the other participants.

The festivities of the 2026 Archaeology PKKMB concluded at 15.30 WITA with a talent show by the new students and an official closing ceremony. Through this event, it is hoped that the new students will be ready to adapt and achieve success within the campus environment of Hasanuddin University.
