Visit by the Head of the West Sulawesi Cultural Preservation Office to the Faculty of Cultural Studies at Unhas
Makassar, 18 August 2026 — The Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Hasanuddin University received a courtesy visit from the Head of the West Sulawesi Cultural Preservation Office and his delegation. The meeting took place in the Mangemba Room at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, in a warm atmosphere filled with a spirit of collaboration.
The visit was welcomed directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Andi Muhammas Akhmar, M.Hum., accompanied by the Head and Secretary of the Department of Archaeology, the Head of the Bachelor’s Programme in Archaeology, and the Head of the Master’s Programme in History.
The presence of the faculty and programme heads reflected a shared commitment to strengthening academic and institutional networks in the field of cultural preservation.
The main agenda of the meeting was to foster closer ties whilst discussing opportunities for collaboration between Hasanuddin University and the West Sulawesi Cultural Preservation Office. Discussions focused on strategies for the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of archaeological and historical research, and community involvement in safeguarding local cultural identity.
The Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Studies emphasised that cross-institutional collaboration is a crucial step in addressing the challenges of cultural preservation in the modern era.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sulawesi Cultural Preservation Office, Ms Rosdyana, S. Kom., M.M., expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome and the opportunity to foster synergy for future programmes.
It is hoped that this meeting will mark the beginning of an ongoing collaboration that not only strengthens academic capacity but also makes a tangible contribution to the community in safeguarding and preserving the cultural heritage of Sulawesi.
