Enhancing Global Presence: Regional Literature Lecturers and Students of FIB Unhas Participate in International Workshop on Manuscript Preservation and Heritage Documentation


Makassar – The Department of Regional Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University (FIB Unhas), has once again strengthened its international engagement through the active participation of its lecturers and students in the workshop entitled On Manuscript Preservation and Heritage Documentation on Friday, May 22, 2026.
This activity forms part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to expand its international academic network while enhancing human resource capacity in the fields of manuscript preservation and cultural heritage documentation. The workshop offered both theoretical and practical approaches to manuscript management and heritage conservation practices implemented by various institutions around the world.
During the program, participants gained insights into the latest methods and strategies for manuscript preservation and cultural documentation. The knowledge acquired is expected to support future research initiatives and the preservation of local cultural heritage, particularly the traditions and intellectual legacy of the Bugis-Makassar community.
The workshop was conducted in an interactive format, combining lectures with hands-on training sessions led by experts in the field. Participants demonstrated great enthusiasm, particularly during discussions and technical training activities. Through this experience, students not only developed conceptual understanding but also acquired practical skills relevant to contemporary cultural preservation efforts in the digital era.
Beyond serving as a platform for capacity building, the workshop also created opportunities for academic dialogue that brought together local and global perspectives. Lecturers and students from FIB Unhas utilized this occasion to introduce the richness of regional culture to the international academic community while learning about innovative approaches to manuscript conservation and heritage documentation.

The workshop concluded with a documentation session and group photograph involving lecturers, students, organizing committee members, and speakers. The spirit of togetherness displayed during the closing session symbolized the success of the workshop and underscored the shared aspiration for sustainable academic collaboration in the future
