MAKASSAR – Since being appointed as the formulator for the Chair of the Indonesian Literature Alumni Association (IKA) of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Hasanuddin, Saharuddin Ridwan has actively built connections with fellow alumni. This effort marks an initial step toward strengthening solidarity and rebuilding a solid alumni network.
The gathering was attended by alumni from various generations, including M. Nawir, the former Chair of IKA Indonesian Literature Unhas. Also present were Farisal, Founder of Daur Baur Asal Mula and initiator of Inspirasinusantara.id; Agustan, a vocational high school teacher in Papua; Zaky, Chair of IMSI FIB Unhas; Fajar from the indie band Kawan Pencerita; Ilham Wasi; Mohadi; Andi Rahmil (Class of 2007); and Tauhid Hira (Class of 2003), who is also a lecturer and doctoral student at FIB Unhas. A number of Indonesian Literature students also attended the event, held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Daur Baur Asal Mula.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly, serving as a space for alumni to reconnect, share experiences, and rebuild relationships that may have faded over time.
Saharuddin Ridwan emphasized that the gathering was not merely a reunion, but a strategic moment to align visions in strengthening the role of alumni, particularly in supporting academic, social, and cultural development for Indonesian Literature students.
Saharuddin Ridwan is widely known as the Executive Director of Yayasan Peduli Negeri. Born in Bone on October 29, 1975, he also serves as President Director of PT Bumi Maros Sejahtera, a regionally owned enterprise (Perseroda) under the Maros Regency Government. In addition, he is the Chair of the Asosiasi Bank Sampah Seluruh Indonesia (ASOBSI).
Previously, he served as Operational Director of PD Pasar Makassar Raya, a regional enterprise owned by the Makassar City Government.
During the meeting, several strategic agendas were discussed, including the finalization of the organizational structure of IKA Indonesian Literature FIB Unhas to ensure optimal operations. Alumni also agreed to develop a database of their diaspora.
This data collection is considered crucial to mapping the distribution of Indonesian Literature Unhas alumni across regions and professions. It is expected to strengthen networks not only among alumni but also between alumni and current students. (*/)
