Three Faculty Members of the Department of Geophysics, Hasanuddin University, Secure Funding in the Priority Research Downstreaming Program
Makassar – The Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, has once again achieved a remarkable milestone. Three faculty members successfully secured funding in the Priority Research Downstreaming Program, a strategic initiative designed to support the advancement of applied research in addressing real-world challenges within society.
The three recipients are:
Dr. Erfan, M.Si with his research project “Landslide Disaster Early Warning System.” This study focuses on developing an early warning system to reduce landslide disaster risks, thereby improving disaster mitigation efforts and enhancing public safety.
Dr. Eng. Muhammad Alimuddin Amzah Assagaf, M.Eng with his project “Precision Village Data WebGIS: A Data Ecosystem for Village Development.” This research develops an information technology–based system to support precise village data management, enabling more targeted and sustainable rural development.
Dr. Samsu Arif, M.Si with his research “Integration of GEO-AI and Machine Learning for Sustainable Rice Field Optimization: Implementing WebGIS as a Decision-Making System.” The project combines artificial intelligence and geospatial technologies to enhance both productivity and sustainability of agricultural land, particularly rice fields.
This achievement stands as concrete proof of the Department of Geophysics’ commitment to fostering innovative research that delivers direct solutions and tangible benefits to society. Beyond strengthening Hasanuddin University’s position at the national level, it also highlights the significant contribution of geophysics to sustainable development.
