Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas Holds Infographic Creation Training for Students of SMA Negeri 13 Maros

The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin (FMIPA Unhas), carried out a community service activity in the form of infographic creation training for grade XII students of SMA Negeri 13 Maros on Friday, 11 September 2026.
This activity involved students from the Undergraduate Statistics Study Program, Master's Program in Statistics, and Master's Program in Data Science at FMIPA Unhas. The involvement of students across levels was part of an academic collaboration to share knowledge and skills with high school students.
This training aimed to improve students' ability to present information and data visually so that it is more attractive, concise, and easy to understand. The students were introduced to the importance of infographics as a communication medium that combines data, text, and visual elements.
The ability to create infographics is one of the skills relevant in the digital era. Presenting information visually can help students develop creativity, critical thinking skills, and the ability to convey information effectively and responsibly.
In addition to the training, this activity also included a promotion of the Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas. The students gained an overview of the field of statistics, academic activities, as well as opportunities to pursue higher education within the Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas.
The involvement of students from Undergraduate Statistics, Master's Statistics, and Master's Data Science also provided them with the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have gained, develop communication skills, and interact directly with the community. This collaboration reflects the implementation of the tridarma of higher education, particularly in the field of community service.
The implementation of this activity also supports SDGs 4: Quality Education through strengthening data literacy and visual communication skills for students. The collaboration between the Department of Statistics FMIPA Unhas and SMA Negeri 13 Maros is also in line with SDGs 17: Partnerships for the Goals, particularly in building cooperation between higher education institutions and schools to expand the benefits of education.
This community service activity is expected to provide a beneficial learning experience, enhance students' creativity, and foster their interest in statistics and the use of data.
