PORSI DEPSTAT: Hasanuddin University Statistics and BPS Collaboration Offers Two Weeks of Research and Consultation Services

Makassar, September 21-30, 2026

The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Hasanuddin University, together with BPS-Statistics Indonesia (BPS), organized PORSI DEPSTAT (Statistics Corner for Research and Consultation) as a form of community service collaboration in commemoration of National Statistics Day. The event ran for two weeks, from September 21-30, 2026, with services available Monday to Thursday from 09:00 to 16:00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) at the Unhas Statistics Corner, on the ground floor of the Unhas Library.

PORSI DEPSTAT offered research consultation and data analysis services to help users understand and apply statistical methods suited to their research needs. The topics offered included t-tests and ANOVA, linear and logistic regression, path analysis, cross-tabulation and correlation, time series analysis and forecasting, instrument testing, nonparametric tests, and data visualization.

The service also covered the use of data analysis software, such as EViews, SPSS, Minitab, and RStudio. Through these consultations, participants are expected to be better able to choose appropriate analysis methods, process data, and interpret results.

This event is in line with SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing access to learning and strengthening statistical literacy and data analysis skills. The collaboration between the Department of Statistics, FMIPA Unhas, and BPS also reflects support for SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through synergy between higher education and government institutions in delivering knowledge-based services to the public.

Through PORSI DEPSTAT, the Unhas Statistics Corner is expected to play an even greater role as a learning and consultation space that supports improved research quality and the use of data in decision-making.
