FIB Unhas Archaeology Lecturer Joins Inter-Congress Conference APT2025: International Forum for Prehistoric Studies

Salatiga, Sangiran, Yogyakarta - October 27th to November 6th, 2025  

Lecturer from the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, Dott. Erwin Ugu Saraka, S.S., M.Sc participated in the Inter-Congress Conference APT2025: Asian Prehistory Today - Bridging Science, Heritage & Development, an international scientific forum organized by the Union Internationale des Sciences Préhistoriques et Protohistoriques (UISPP) or the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences (IUPPS).

The conference took place over ten days in three important locations in the Indonesian archaeological landscape: Salatiga, Sangiran, and Yogyakarta. APT2025 provides a strategic platform for prehistoric researchers from various countries to discuss the latest developments in archaeological studies, cultural heritage preservation, and the integration of supporting sciences such as geology, paleontology, and digital technology.

The presence of FIB Unhas Archaeology lecturers in this forum reflects the institution's commitment to strengthening international academic networks and actively contributing to the global discourse on Asian prehistory. In addition to attending plenary sessions and thematic discussions, participants also had the opportunity to conduct field visits to major archaeological sites, including the Sangiran Site which has been recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO.

APT2025 is not only a place for the exchange of scientific ideas, but also opens up opportunities for cross-country research collaboration oriented towards sustainable development based on cultural heritage. The active participation of Indonesian academics, including from Hasanuddin University, strengthens the national position in the world prehistoric scientific map.
