7th APSMI Conference: BMKT Unhas Lecturers Present Latest Research on Chinese Language and Culture

The 7th APSMI International Conference officially opened on Wednesday morning at Gunadarma University, Depok, Jakarta. The two-day conference, held from October 15-16, 2025, featured a variety of keynote speakers from various universities worldwide, such as Fujian Normal University, Nanyang Technological University, and MARA Technology University.

The conference, titled "China and Digital Transformation: A Multidisciplinary Perspective in Social Sciences and Humanities," highlighted the role of the Chinese language in society amidst the development of digital technology.

The event was opened by the chair of the organizing committee, Dr. Tri Wahyu Retno Ningsih, M.M., M.I.Kom., who stated that this conference serves as an important forum for academics to discuss important issues related to the role of the Chinese language, Chinese culture, and the development of digital technology. The opening session of the conference was also attended by Dr. Herman, B.Ed., M. TCSOL, Chair of APSMI, Prof. Dr. E.S. Margianti, S.E., M.M., Rector of Gunadarma University; Dr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, S.E., M.A., Head of Higher Education Service Institution Region III Jakarta; and Reza Aulia Hakim, Director of Commercial at Garuda Indonesia.

Lecturers from the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture study program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, also participated as speakers at this international conference. These lecturers attended both in-person and online. The lecturers who attended offline and presented their articles directly were Dian Sari Unga Waru, S.S., M. TCSOL who is the head of the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture study program, FIB Unhas, presented an article entitled "Semiotic Analysis of Chinese Cultural Elements in Hanzi Characters: A Study on Confucian Wisdom Values", Asmuliyati Nanhu, S.S., M.CIE presented an article entitled "Analysis of Word Order Errors in Mandarin Sentences by Beginner Learners", Nirdayanti Mustarih, S.S., M.CIE presented an article entitled "Cultural Narrative in Translation Based on Indonesian Terms and Their Equivalents in English and Mandarin", Andi Filsah Muslimat, S.S., S.Pd., M. Hum presented an article entitled "The Meaning of Social Criticism in the Song Fragile by Namawee ft. Kimberly Chen Critical Discourse Analysis of Van Dijk", Leny Cahyati, S.S., M.CIE presented An article entitled "Comparison of the Mandarin Structural Particles "地" and "得" with the Indonesian Word "dengan" was also presented. Yunita Tetta Dendo, S.S., M.CIE presented an article entitled "A Semiotic Analysis of Chinese Cultural Symbols in the Heavenly and Earthly Systems of Tiāngān Dìzhī (天干地支)." Also present online was Sukma, S.S., M. TCSOL. The presentations by lecturers from the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, Alhamdulillah, proceeded smoothly and well, despite being held in separate presentation rooms.

In addition to Hasanuddin University, two major universities from the eastern region also joined this international conference: Makassar State University and Bosowa University. In addition to the paper presentation sessions, this international event is expected to also serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas across generations, as well as expanding research networks and academic collaboration.

The 7th APSMI Conference, which took place on October 15-16, 2025, includes a panel discussion agenda on October 15, 2025, combined with the election of the APSMI chairman for the 2026 period on October 16, 2025, as well as the formulation of several activities including planning for the 2026 APSMI International Conference.
