Makassar, September 19, 2025 – On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), held a farewell ceremony for 13 students from the class of 2023 who will be departing for China to participate in the 2+2 Joint Degree program between UNHAS and Nanchang University. The farewell ceremony was officially opened by Dr. Ansariadi (Director of Partnerships), and was also attended by Dr. Februadi Bastian (Head of the Sub-Directorate of International Class Management), Muhammad Ridwan, M.A. (Secretary of the International Office), Dian Waru Ungas, M.A. (Head of the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program), representatives from the Confucius Institute, the CEO of PT. NISCO Morowali, and lecturers from the Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture Study Program and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences.
These 13 students successfully passed a rigorous selection process, requiring them to achieve a minimum Mandarin proficiency of Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì (HSK) Level 4 and maintain a minimum grade of B throughout their first four semesters. Thanks to this achievement, the students received scholarships to continue their undergraduate studies for two years at Nanchang University, China.
After completing their studies, writing their theses, and graduating at Nanchang University, the students will return to UNHAS for their final graduation ceremony. Through this 2+2 program, they will earn two bachelor's degrees—one from Nanchang University and one from UNHAS.
"This program is a great opportunity for students to receive a quality international education, as well as broaden their horizons and networks," said Dr. Ansariadi in his remarks. "We hope that with this experience, the students will be better prepared to contribute to an increasingly global professional world."
The UNHAS-Nanchang University 2+2 program is part of UNHAS's efforts to strengthen international collaboration and provide students with opportunities to gain broader study experiences abroad. This program also demonstrates UNHAS's commitment to supporting student skill development in Mandarin and Chinese culture, which are increasingly relevant in today's globalized world.
