PHOTOS: Indonesian Literature Community Service Program at SMAN 9 Gowa Trains Teachers to Utilize Digital Technology in Learning
GOWA — The Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Hasanuddin University (Unhas), conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) titled “Training on the Utilization of Digital Technology in Indonesian Language and Literature Learning” in collaboration with the Indonesian Language and Literature Teachers’ Association (MGMP) for Senior High Schools in Gowa Regency. The activity took place at SMAN 9 Gowa and was attended by Indonesian Language and Literature teachers from various senior high schools across Gowa Regency.
The event was attended by the Head of the Department of Indonesian Literature, the department secretary, professors, lecturers from the Department of Indonesian Literature, the Principal of SMAN 9 Gowa, representatives of the MGMP Indonesian Language and Literature Association of Gowa Regency, and participating teachers.
The training was organized into two discussion sessions: a linguistics session and a literature session. The linguistics session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Nurhayati, M.Hum., featuring presentations by Prof. Muhammad Darwis, Dr. Ikhwan M. Said, M.Hum., and Prof. Dr. Asriani Abbas, M.Hum.
Meanwhile, the literature session was moderated by Prof. Dr. AB. Takko Bandung, M.Hum., with speakers Dr. Inriati Lewa, M.Hum., Dr. Dra. St. Nursa’adah, M.Hum., and Faisal Oddang, S.S., M.Hum. The presenters discussed various strategies for integrating digital technology into Indonesian Language and Literature education to make learning more interactive, creative, and relevant to contemporary developments.
The Head of the Department of Indonesian Literature at FIB Unhas, Muslimat, stated that the community service initiative was motivated by the importance of maintaining and advancing the role of the Indonesian language and literature amid globalization and rapid technological progress.
“The Indonesian language is currently progressing toward becoming an international language. Therefore, we share a collective responsibility to nurture, develop, and strengthen its use, both in education and in everyday life,” she said.
According to Muslimat, the rapid growth of digital technology presents both challenges and opportunities for the education sector. Through activities such as this training program, teachers are expected to enhance their digital competencies and adopt innovative learning approaches that can improve the quality of Indonesian Language and Literature education.
