The Veterinary Paramedic Study Program at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), was officially established on June 19, 2023, marking a new milestone in vocational education for animal health in Indonesia. Recognizing the urgent need for professional personnel in animal care, Unhas responded by establishing this study program to produce qualified graduates as animal nurses and veterinary technicians. Growing public awareness of animal welfare, along with the rapid development of the livestock and fisheries sectors in Indonesia, has created a strong demand for skilled professionals capable of addressing various animal health issues.

The establishment of the Veterinary Paramedic Study Program was the result of thorough study and careful planning, taking into account real conditions and challenges in the field. The shortage of trained veterinary paramedics was one of the main driving factors. This study program is designed to fill that gap, making a significant contribution to the development of human resources in the animal health sector and supporting the advancement of related industries. Its comprehensive curriculum integrates theory and practice, equipping students with fundamental knowledge of veterinary medicine, proper animal care techniques, and practical skills needed to handle a wide range of animal health cases.

Graduates of the Veterinary Paramedic Study Program at Unhas are therefore expected to play an active role in maintaining animal health, preventing and controlling animal diseases, and improving productivity in the livestock and fisheries sectors. They will become reliable professionals who are able to work independently as well as collaborate with veterinarians. From the outset, the study program has been committed to establishing partnerships with various institutions and practitioners in the field of animal health, providing students with valuable field experience and opportunities to expand their professional networks. Support from experienced lecturers and adequate educational facilities is a key factor in producing competent graduates who are ready to face the challenges of the professional world.
