Barru, 29 September 2025 — The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Hasanuddin University organized the Community Service Exhibition/Expo at the 6th Floor Hall of the Barru Regent’s Office. This event served as a platform for UNHAS lecturers and students to showcase innovative works derived from research and community service activities.

One of the featured highlights was the Disaster Literacy Monopoly Game, an interactive learning medium developed as an educational tool for disaster awareness. The product was a collaborative effort between Prof. Dr. Eng. Adi Maulana, S.T., M.Phil. from the Department of Geological Engineering and Saaduddin, M.Sc. from the Department of Geophysics. Through this game, young generations are expected to gain a better understanding of various types of disasters, the roles of related institutions, and the importance of mitigation and preparedness in a more engaging and participatory way.

The innovation also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by fostering disaster literacy through education, strengthening community resilience, and building partnerships between academia, government, and society.

The event was officially opened by the Regent of Barru, Andi Ina Kartika Sari, S.H., M.Si. In her remarks, the Regent emphasized that the event was not merely an exhibition of works, but a concrete step toward building synergy between local government and higher education institutions. She stated that Barru Regency is ready to become a strategic partner of UNHAS in carrying out the university’s tri dharma, particularly in research and community service that delivers direct impact to society.

The Rector of UNHAS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., also underscored that all community service activities at UNHAS must be directed toward research downstreaming. In this way, research outcomes will not only end in academic publications but can also be transformed into products, innovations, and tangible solutions that bring benefits to the wider community.

This Expo is expected to serve as a momentum to strengthen the partnership between UNHAS and the Government of Barru Regency, while also inspiring the community to see how university research and innovation can address the challenges of daily life.
