Strengthening Curriculum Governance and Quality, the Department of Administrative Sciences FISIP Unhas Receives Benchmarking Visit from FISIP UPRI

MAKASSAR – The Department of Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), continues its commitment to becoming a reference point for the development of higher education governance and quality assurance in public administration science in Indonesia. This commitment was realized by hosting an academic delegation visit from the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP, Universitas Perjuangan Republik Indonesia (UPRI), on Thursday (October 1, 2026). Held at the Meeting Room of the Department of Administrative Sciences FISIP Unhas, the academic meeting, which took place warmly from 10:30 to 12:30 WITA, focused on mapping best practices in curriculum management, reaccreditation preparation, and the development of study program laboratories.

The official delegation of FISIP UPRI was led directly by the Vice Dean II for General Administration, Rosmini, S.A.P., M.A.P., accompanied by the Head of the Quality Assurance Board of FISIP UPRI, who is also a Public Administration lecturer, Zaenal Akhmad, S.I.P., M.A.P., the Head of the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP UPRI, Yuliana, S.A.P., M.A.P., and Public Administration lecturer Hasria Riski S., S.S., M.Hum. The delegation team was officially received by the Head of the Department of Administrative Sciences of FISIP Unhas, Prof. Dr. Alwi, M.Si., accompanied by lecturers from the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP Unhas: Dr. Ishak Salim, M.A., Andi Ahmad Yani, M.Si., M.P.A., M.Sc., Irma Ariyanti Arif, S.Sos., M.Si., and Nuralamsyah Ismail, S.Sos., M.A.

During the presentation session, Prof. Dr. Alwi reviewed the extensive journey of the Department of Administrative Sciences of FISIP Unhas in maintaining educational quality standards. He emphasized that the curriculum of the Public Administration Study Program at FISIP Unhas is consistently evaluated on a periodic basis to respond to the dynamics of the era, scientific developments, and technological advancements. This scientific development is harmoniously integrated between the study program's scientific vision and the Indonesian Maritime Continent Vision, which serves as the primary identity of Universitas Hasanuddin. This quality track record is evidenced by the achievement of international certification from AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance) since 2021, as well as the recent "Excellent" (Unggul) Accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social Sciences, Political Sciences, and Communication (LAMSPAK) in May 2026.

It was further explained that the new curriculum structure of the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP Unhas is designed based on the national curriculum standards set by the Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA). In addition to compulsory courses, this curriculum offers six elective courses highly relevant to the needs of contemporary and regional issues, including Maritime Governance and Disaster Management. To strengthen students' international perspectives, the study program routinely holds guest lectures every semester, featuring lecturers and experts from foreign partner universities such as Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand; Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM); Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia; Universiti Brunei Darussalam; and Rikkyo University, Japan.

The discussion became increasingly interactive when the FISIP UPRI delegation asked various in-depth questions regarding the strategic steps for the reaccreditation preparation that FISIP UPRI will face next year. In response, the Public Administration lecturers of FISIP Unhas alternately shared their empirical experiences and the technical strategies implemented to successfully achieve the "Excellent" accreditation. A specific discussion also highlighted the vital role of the Policy & Governance Laboratory (POLiGOV) of FISIP Unhas, which is directly integrated into the implementation of practice-based courses and policy research. Furthermore, both parties exchanged insights regarding the implementation of inclusive and disability-friendly learning environments at both FISIP Unhas and FISIP UPRI.

This series of benchmarking activities concluded with a symbolic handover of souvenirs from the Head of the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP UPRI to the leadership of the Public Administration Study Program of FISIP Unhas, followed by a joint photo session. Through this meeting, both institutions reaffirmed their mutual commitment to support one another and strengthen strategic collaboration in the development of education, research, and community service in the future.
