Prof. AB Takko Participates in the 2026 National Symposium of Professors in the Humanities at the University of Indonesia, Formulating National Humanities Policy Recommendations
JAKARTA – Prof. Dr. A. B. Takko, M.Hum., Professor of Indonesian Literature at Hasanuddin University (Unhas), participated in the 2026 National Symposium of Professors in the Humanities (SNGB Humaniora 2026), held from 11–13 August 2026 at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia (FIB UI), Depok.
As part of the symposium, the participating professors met with the Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, to present the symposium's outcomes and a set of strategic policy recommendations. The Minister welcomed the recommendations and expressed his appreciation for the contribution of scholars to the advancement of Indonesia's cultural development. During the meeting, Fadli Zon also showcased a collection of rare books dating back to the 17th century (1600s), along with various historical heirlooms preserved as part of Indonesia's cultural heritage.
The 2026 National Symposium of Professors in the Humanities (SNGB Humaniora 2026) produced a document entitled "Outcomes of the 2026 National Symposium of Professors in the Humanities" as a manifestation of the collective commitment of Indonesia's humanities professors to formulate a transformative, inclusive, and sustainable national cultural policy while promoting the advancement of the humanities.
The document represents the result of in-depth deliberations and consensus among all symposium participants. It is intended to provide strategic policy input to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
The symposium produced three major outcomes:
- Policy Recommendations for the Development of the Humanities.
- Policy Recommendations addressed to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
- The Establishment of the Organization of Professors in the Humanities.
