Inspection of sacrificial animals
Inspection of Ante-mortem Inspection

Health inspection activities for sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 H. This inspection activity was carried out by the Department of Fisheries and Agriculture of Makassar City, as well as several universities: Hasanuddin University, Bosowa University, and the State Islamic University. This inspection activity is a place for students to determine the quality of sacrificial animals so that they comply with the standards. Students were given the opportunity to conduct direct examinations and sampling; this activity included ante-mortem examination, checking the age of livestock, blood sampling from the ear (Vena Auricularis), and thin blood smears.

A valuable experience we gained from the ante-mortem inspection activity of sacrificial animals together with the Department of Fisheries and Agriculture and fellow students. This inspection activity was not just an academic exercise, but a real opportunity to serve the community while honing our competence as future veterinary paramedic professionals. Over several days of implementation, we learned directly in the field inspecting the physical condition of the sacrificial animals, assessing their eligibility from a health aspect, and ensuring that the animals to be sacrificed were free from signs of disease or abnormalities that could harm consumers. This experience made us realize that the role of veterinary paramedics is truly vital, especially in maintaining food safety and public health.
