Department of Geophysics, FMIPA Hasanuddin University Welcomes 96 New Students through PKKMB 2026

Makassar, August 13, 2026 – The Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, conducted the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2026 cohort. The activity was held at the Geophysics Seminar Room and attended by 96 new students, consisting of 37 male students and 59 female students.

The PKKMB activity served as an important first step for new students to become familiar with the academic environment, learning system, and student life within the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University. Through this activity, students were introduced to various aspects of university life, including academic activities, the learning process, student organisations, and the academic environment of the Department of Geophysics.

In addition to introducing the university environment, the activity provided an opportunity for new students to build communication and a sense of togetherness at the beginning of their university journey. Interaction among new students, lecturers, and members of the academic community is expected to create an open, welcoming, and supportive academic environment that helps students adapt to university life as part of the Geophysics community.

Through the implementation of PKKMB, the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, hopes that the 2026 cohort will become more familiar with their academic environment, understand their roles and responsibilities as university students, and develop the motivation to explore and enhance their potential throughout their studies. The activity is also expected to serve as an initial step towards building a strong sense of togetherness and enthusiasm for learning among the Geophysics students of the 2026 cohort.
