Veterinary Paramedic Study Program Holds Community Service Activity for World Rabies Day at Makassar City Animal Health Center

In commemoration of World Rabies Day, observed on September 28, 2024 with the theme “Breaking Rabies Boundaries,” the Veterinary Paramedic Study Program, in collaboration with the Makassar City UPT Animal Health Center, held a World Rabies Day activity to help prevent the spread and transmission of rabies in animals such as dogs and cats. The activity included free rabies vaccination for residents’ pets, animal health checks, the provision of vitamins and deworming medicine, as well as animal sterilization.

In addition to maintaining the health of pets, administering anti-rabies vaccines to animals also helps protect humans from the effects of bites from rabies-infected animals. Anti-rabies vaccination in animals can also prevent the risk of death in humans by up to 100 percent.
